At age 22, Tom Dwan is changing the game with scary skills and gutsy gambles
If you were among the top poker players in the world between 2003 and 2005, or
if you won a major televised tournament during those years, then you got an
automatic invite to the superstars’ club. As the years have passed, however, the
VIP passes have been harder to acquire. The poker superstars’ club, it appeared,
reached capacity.
Consider: The World Series of Poker champion in 2003, Chris Moneymaker, became a
legendary name. The champs the next three years, Greg Raymer, Joe Hachem, and
Jamie Gold, may not have reached the Moneymaker “household name” stratosphere,
but they all jumped immediately to the poker A-list. But the 2007 champ, Jerry
Yang, is still a relative nobody. And when you say the name “Peter Eastgate,” a
lot of poker fans respond, “Who?”
It was reasonable to assume that a saturation point had been reached, that poker
had enough superstars from the early days of the poker boom and that if you
weren’t a superstar already, you weren’t going to become one now.

World Poker Finals – Part 1. Foxwoods Resort Casino. It’s an awesome display of
poker talent back east as Mike “The Mouth” Matusow, David “The Dragon” Pham and
reigning WPT Poker Player of the Year Jonathan Little all square off at Foxwoods
for over a million dollar first place prize. The Mouth and The Dragon are both
looking for their first WPT title after a combined eleven final table flameouts
but it's Jonathan Little who is looking to make history as the youngest double
winner in WPT history. Will one of the famous pros
